Sam Swann Out Campaigning for Corbyn in Islington North

This video was posted by Sam Swann on his YouTube channel of the same name on the 17th of June. Corbyn was deselected as an MP by Starmer, and so has decided to stand against Labour as an independent. This video shows Swann as he attends first a pro-Corbyn rally, showing Owen Jones and the great man himself speaking on stage, and then, briefly interrupted by rain, going round knocking on doors and handing out leaflets.

The blurb for the video runs:

‘Since the very clever, very wise people at the Labour Party decided to stop Jeremy Corbyn and other left wing Labour MPs from standing as Labour Party candidates at this General Election, it is vital we get the vote out in Islington North, which just so happens to be the constituency I live in. Corbyn has always been a fantastic MP serving Islington North for over 40 years – securing the future of the local Whittington Hospital and always campaigning for the future of our NHS at a national level, and now Keir Starmer’s Labour Party want to replace him with a someone working for private health interests trying to profit from our National Health Service.

If you’d like to help with the campaign please go to VoteCorbyn.com for more details. And if you live in the area go to VoteCorbyn.com/pledge’

The video shows a clip of the Labour candidate, Praful somebody-or-other at a conference talking about what the private sector can do for the NHS. At the rally, Corbyn thanks everyone coming out to hear him and defend the NHS. Swann states that when he knocks on doors, he asks people three questions. The first is whether they’re aware that Jeremy Corbyn is running. He also talks about tackling the objection that if people vote for him, it’ll split the left-wing vote and the Tories will get in. Swann refutes this by showing that the Tories are so far down electorally in Islington North that it simply won’t happen. While he doesn’t really show himself arguing or talking to local people, except in the odd shots where their backs are turned to the camera, he does remark on people putting up in their windows posters for the man who should have been our Prime Minister.

I wish Swann and the other volunteers campaigning for Jeremy all the best, and I hope to see Jezza entering parliament to serve again as the proper MP for Islington North and its people.

And down with Starmer and his privatisers!
