UKIP MEP suspended for “allegations of a serious financial nature”

Another scandal to hit UKIP, along with the various resignations from the party for dodging politicking within the party itself, racism and sectarianism. UKIP really do seem to have chosen their candidates according to the joke in Blackadder the Second, when Blackadder and Baldrick decide to enter politics. At one point when they’re filling out the form for Baldrick to enter the election, Blackadder reads out the question: ‘Do you have any convictions? Oh, I’ll just put fraud and sexual perversion.’ In UKIP’s case, the latter seems to have been replaced by ‘bigotry’, but otherwise the joke stands. And like the Tories in that episode of Blackadder, the leadership probably does believe in slavery for everyone who doesn’t have a knighthood. It’s called ‘workfare’.

Pride's Purge

(not satire – it’s the UKIP!)

UKIP’s charming PR officer and MEP Janice Atkinson has been suspended for what the party calls “allegations of a serious financial nature“.

There is no word yet what Janice has done to merit being suspended, but could it by any chance be anything to do with this:

UKIP MEP attacks “feckless families” despite owing £2,000 in child support

All I can say is, it couldn’t have happened to a nicer person:

atkinson fingerJanice telling voters what she thinks of them while out campaigning
