Paul Nuttall Photographed with Another Islamophobic Racist

February 11, 2017

hitler-nuttal-fuhrer

Last Friday, Hope Not Hate posted a piece reporting that Paul ‘Eddie Hitler’ Nuttall had been photographed grinning with yet another member of the British Far Right. The national press had reported last May that he had posed with Andrew Edge, a violent thug from the English Defence League.

Now he is photographed smiling with Wayne Riley, an islamaphobe, who has regularly gone on far right protest marches and abused Asians in Bolton in Lancashire. He has been convicted of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause alarm or distress on election day 2015. He apparently got so violent when his case was heard that he had to be removed from court. At the anti-mosque demo last November the Nazi youth group, National Action, threw Nazi salutes, while Bolton paraded around in a niqab with his dog draped in the Union Flag. And last month he put a video of himself on Facebook abusing local Asian men, vowing that he would ‘fight these retards until I die’.

The Kippers have a policy of not tolerating members from the racist right, but they keep on turning up, again and again. This is why the residents of Stoke on Trent, when they were interviewed by Chunky Mark this week, expressed fear and dismay at Nuttall trying to get elected as their town’s MP. Nuttall’s only there because three other towns have conspicuously failed to elect him as their parliamentary representative. He has no connection to the town and in their view, does not care about its diverse people. One gentleman interviewed said that he was only cause division, while one of the ladies observed how hurtful his lies about immigrants only coming to Britain to claim benefits must be to those migrants, who hadn’t. Which constitute the great majority according to the stats.

Whatever Nuttall says to the contrary, he clearly likes the company of extreme right-wing thugs, with whom he seems to share a racist hatred of immigrants.

Nuttall Claims to be Hillsborough Survivor, But No-One Remembers Him Being There

February 11, 2017

hitlernuttall-1

Eddie Hitler-alike Paul Nuttall has gone on the offensive after people have questioned his claim to have been a survivor of the Hillsborough disaster. He claims to have been present at the disaster which killed 96 football fans, along with his father and two uncles.

The Hillsborough Families Support Group have asked the perfectly reasonable question why, if this was the case, he has never offered them his support. And others who were there, have said that they simply don’t remember him ever being there.

So what’s Eddie’s response? He has claimed he doesn’t like talking about it, and called anybody who questioned the fact that he was there ‘scum of the earth’.

See: http://voxpoliticalonline.com/2017/02/11/nuttalls-claim-to-have-been-at-the-hillsborough-disaster-falls-apart-under-examination/

Now it’s possible that he was there, but that the trauma of the event robbed others of the memory of his presence. Just as the many of the survivors of genuinely traumatic events don’t like talking about their experiences. But it seems much more likely that Nuttall is fibbing, to use highly unparliamentary language. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time the Kippers have lied, and it probably won’t be the last. Their lying is now so pernicious that one gentleman from Stoke, interviewed by Chunky Mark on a video that was reblogged by Mike, described Nuttall’s office as ‘a lie shop’.

Prank Leaves Nuttall Address in Stoke Half Empty

February 11, 2017

The silhouette fight on the end credits of Bottom. Don’t you wish this was Farage and Nuttall?

Mike over at Vox Political has posted this story about pranksters sabotaging an event by Paul ‘Eddie Hitler’ Nuttall in Stoke on Trent. UKIP advertised the event on-line, so that ‘lefties’ ordered plenty of reserve tickets without any intention of picking them up. Result: the hall was only half full.

Mike observes that he doesn’t condone the use of sabotage by members of political parties against their rivals. But he thinks that unused tickets that aren’t collected may be sold later. In which case, the half-empty audience may give a real picture of what the good people of Stoke on Trent think of Eddie Hitler and his storm-troopers.

The People of Stoke on Trent Say What They Think of Kipper Nuttall

February 6, 2017

hitlernuttall-1

Bottom’s Eddie Hitler and Paul Nuttall. The likeness is frightening.

Over the past week, Mike’s run some brilliant articles about the people of Stoke on Trent expressing their displeasure at Paul Nuttall’s attempt to be elected their MP. I’ve said before that Nuttall looks like Ade Edmondson’s character from the BBC comedy series, Bottom, the stupid, coarse and violent Eddie Hitler. Bottom, however, was intended to be deliberately funny, while there is nothing remotely comic about the racism, misogyny, homophobia and bigotry Nuttall and his party represent. Nuttall’s own attitude to the town and its people is derisory. He has never lived there, and cynically took up residence only a couple of days after he filed his candidacy. The contempt with which he treats them is reciprocated, and the good burghers are fighting back.

Yesterday Mike put up two photos showing just what local people think of Nuttall and the Kippers. One is of a notice in a house window, which states

‘Dear UKIP, Go away. I am neither racist, nor homophobic and you offend me.’

And the ladies of Women Against UKIP put up a mock Blue Plaque in Nuttall’s honour. This reads, ‘Paul Nuttall, leader of UKIP 2016- Did not live here’.

http://voxpoliticalonline.com/2017/02/05/spotted-in-stoke-the-quiet-anti-ukip-campaign-is-growing/

Today Mike’s put up another piece showing a video from Chunky Mark, the artist taxi driver, in which he talks to three people from Stoke on Trent, who give their views on Nuttall and his office in the town. It’s a man and two women. The man makes the acute observation that Nuttall’s office used to be a pie shop, ‘Now it’s a lie shop.’ He states that Nuttall’s party is about causing division, not about helping the people of Stoke on Trent. Nuttall and his party wish to privatise the NHS and schools, abolish maternity and other welfare benefits, on which plenty of people in Stoke rely. And now after making it clear that he wants to privatise the NHS, he now claims to want to save the NHS.

The two women share the man’s views on Nuttall. They also makes the point that he doesn’t really want to work for the people of Stoke on Trent, and is just spreading hatred and racism. One of the women reminds the viewers that Nuttall did say he wanted to privatise the NHS, because we have an aging population. She emphasises this, to show Nuttalls contempt for this most precious of British institutions and Britain’s seniors. She also objects to Nuttall claiming that immigrants are coming to take our benefits. She finds this hurtful to the people of her town, and to the immigrants, who come here and work hard and do not take benefits. And now Nuttall’s pasted his lies up. She states that she is ashamed of the shop, and afraid that his lies will infect the local people. As for Nuttall demanding a ‘quick Brexit’, she states that Britain has voted for Brexit, and it’s going to happen. But we need the best deal, and a quick Brexit is not the answer.

http://voxpoliticalonline.com/2017/02/06/ukip-in-stoke-on-trent-that-used-to-be-a-pie-shop-now-its-a-lie-shop/

All of this is exactly true. I think the NHS Action Party has a video up showing Nuttall saying quite clearly that he wants to privatise the NHS. And his statement that immigrants are coming here to steal our benefits is another lie. Mike and the other bloggers have posted up the stats plenty of times showing that immigrants to Britain are net contributors to the welfare state. But it’s convenient propaganda to work people up against foreigners, along with the lie that they’re stealing our jobs.

What comes across from this video and the other pics Mike’s put up is that the people of Stoke are ordinary and decent, and extremely and rightly worried that Nuttall and his stormtroopers will whip up racial tension and hatred. Their anti-welfare policies will cause more poverty. The Kippers are doing this purely for their own national political ambitions, without any regard for the local people their divisive policies will hurt. And I’ve no doubt that this could be applied to other towns up and down the country where the Kippers are standing.

Vox Political: Stoke-on-Trent South Labour Party Give MP the Treatment He Deserves

July 1, 2016

There’s a backlash starting against the 172 Labour MP, who tried to stage a coup against Jeremy Corbyn. Despite their claims that Corbyn is unelectable, the Labour leader is massively popular with the public and the grassroots membership in the constituency parties. And like me, they are not happy with plotting and machinations of the Blairite Labour rebels. As a result, some of them are starting to give them the treatment they meted out to Corbyn.

Mike yesterday posted a piece about Rob Flello, the Labour MP for Stoke on Trent. Flello told his constituency Labour party that he wouldn’t take any action against the Labour leader. A promise, which he then promptly broke by joining the calls for the Labour leader to resign. And now Chris Robinson, the head of Flello’s local Labour party, has called on Flello to come to a constituency meeting to explain his actions instead, and has said that he intends to propose a motion of no confidence in Flello himself.

Mike urged the other constituency parties to give their MPs the same treatment, if their MPs had also defied their instructions not to attack the Labour leader.

Mike’s absolutely right. The Chickencoup plotters are bog-standard Thatcherites, peddling a worn-out ideology that has comprehensively wrecked this country’s economy, society and political culture, and reduced 4.7 million of our fellow citizens into food poverty. But the elites like it, because it confirms and further promotes the massive inequalities in British society, and their own power and authority. This nonsense should have ended in the 1990s with the election of Blair. But it didn’t. It continued. But Corbyn has promised that he will, and we have to support him – for the poor and working people of Britain, and for the sake of returning the Labour party to the ideals of the working people, who founded it.

Anti-NHS Privatisation Rally at 1.00 PM Today, Stoke on Trent

May 4, 2015

I’m sorry this is somewhat late, but it’s only just come through my inbox.

Gail Gregory, one of the campaigners against the privatisation of the NHS, and particular local hospitals in Staffordshire, has been part of a team organising events this Bank Holiday weekend. She has sent out another release letting everyone know that there is another rally today at 1.00 in Stoke On Trent. She writes

Dear friends,

I know you may not be able to join us, but I though you would like to know just how amazing the March we have helped organise is going. We set off from Burton on Saturday morning – and before we reached the finish line we had Harry Leslie Smith confirm he would like to speak in Stoke on Monday (today) and welcome us across the finish! What a day. We will put footage up online for you – but in the mean time here are the details of the final day and the speakers we have!

Cancer Not for Profit Announce STAR speaker for May Day Rally!

Star speaker line up revealed for finish line rally of the 3 day, 30 mile, M’aide May Day March For Our NHS in Hanley Park, Stoke on Monday 4 May at 1pm:

Harry Leslie Smith – author of ‘Harry’s Last Stand’ and 91 year old survivor of the Great Depression, a second world war RAF veteran and an activist for the NHS, the poor and for the preservation of social democracy.

Lord Philip Hunt – Labour Spokesperson for Health in the Lords

Sarah Perry – Cancer Patient and 38 Degrees Campaigner

Professor Ray Tallis – Co Author of NHS SOS

Tristram Hunt – Labour Stoke Central PPC and Shadow Minister for Education

Christine Venables – Save Our NHS Campaigner – South Derbyshire

Paul Walker – East Staffs TUC Chair and cancer patient

Representatives from the CCGs have been asked to attend but are unfortunately unavailable on this occasion.

Health Campaigners Cancer Not For Profit and East Staffordshire TUC are calling on the public to join them at the FREE event on, Monday 4 May at 1pm, to hear stirring speeches from famous NHS campaigners and why we need to fight the privatisation of our NHS in Staffordshire.

The M’aide, May Day March for our NHS began on Saturday in Burton on Trent with a 10am rally where 50 concerned health campaigners, members of the public and patients set off for Uttoxeter in a bid to highlight the privatisation of the NHS in Staffordshire. On Sunday 3rd May the NHS crusaders were joined by more supporters as they left Uttoxeter for Blythe Bridge to complete stage two of the march. On Monday 4th May the final stage of the march between Blythe Bridge and Stoke on Trent will culminate with a mass rally with expert contributions from prominent NHS campaigners as walkers arrive in Hanley Park at 1pm.

The biggest potential NHS privatisation in history still looms large for Staffordshire, with the £1.2 billion contract for of Cancer and End of Life care for 800,000 residents, yet to be decided. The bidders in the running include five private companies and only two NHS Trusts however since the 2012 Health and Social Care Act 70% of all contracts have been awarded to the private sector.

Virgin Care have recently won a controversial contract in East Staffs to provide Elderly Person Care worth around £280 million for 6000 frail elderly and 38,000 patients with chronic diseases in East Staffordshire as awarded by East Staffs CCG. Campaigners have condemned the contract fearing care will suffer as private companies seek to make profit out of an already cash strapped NHS.

38 Degrees are supporting local efforts to stop NHS privatisation with more than 60,000 people signing the petition to stop the sell off of Cancer and End of Life Care in Staffordshire in the past month. This adds to previous efforts which have secured more than 15,000 signatures from Staffordshire residents who presented concerns to the County Council in October but failed to secure enough support from the chamber to stop NHS privatisation, instead residents’ concerns were referred to the Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).

Monday 4th May

Blythe Bridge Rally point 10am Blythe Bridge Library ST11 9JR

to Hanley Park, Stoke On Trent for the final rally at around 1pm by the Bandstand

For full route and timings please see the website: bit.ly/NHSMayDayMarch

Enjoy your bank holiday if you do not join us – once again thank you for making this campaign happen!

Best Wishes,

Gail

This is very far from my home in Bristol, but I wish her, the event and the speakers every success.

One of the speakers, Ray Tallis, is a former neurologist and Humanist, who has written and spoken extensively on the mystery of human consciousness and cognition, as well as art and philosophy. I heard him speak last year at the Cheltenham Literary Festival, and he is well-worth hearing.

Children Scavenging in Bins: The Return of the 19th century Bone-Picker

July 3, 2014

Mudlark pic

A mudlark from Mayhew’s London Labour and the London Poor: a child that lived by scavenging in the mud of the Thames.

Earlier today I reblogged a truly shocking piece from Mike’s site, over at Vox Political. This reported that children in Stoke-on-Trent had been reduced to such a level of poverty and starvation that they were taking food from rubbish bins.

The Tories have always boasted about ‘Victorian values’, ever since Maggie Thatcher made it her mantra. The Daily Heil even once ran an article praising the ‘new Victorians’, who valued hard work and thrift over their parent’s profligacy. This is very much a return to the Victorian age, and urban poor, who tried to make a living scouring the streets and sewers for anything they could sell.

Henry Mayhew included them in his encyclopaedic description of the lives of the labouring poor, London Labour and the London Poor, of 1851. They included bone-grubbers and rag-gatherers, ‘pure’ finders – actually people who collected and sold dog excrement, cigar-end finders, old wood gatherers, dredgers, or river finders, sewer-hunters and mudlarks. These last were boys, who searched in the mud of the Thames for anything remotely valuable.
There is an obvious parallel here to the desperately poor children in Mike’s article. This becomes particularly clear in this passage from Mayhew’s description of the lives of the bone-pickers and rag-gatherers.

The bone-picker and rag-gatherer may be known at once by the greasy bag which he carries on his back. Usually he has a stick in his hand, and this is armed with a spike or hook, for the purpose of more easily turning over the heaps of ashes or dirt that are thrown out of the houses, and discovering whether they contain anything that is saleable at the rag-and-bottle or marine-store shop. The bone-grubber generally seeks out the narrow back streets, where dust and refuse are cast, or where any dust-bins are accessible. The articles for which he chiefly searches are rags and bones – rags he prefers – but waste metal, such as bits of lead, pewter, copper, brass, or old iron, he prizes above all. Whatever he meets with that he knows to be in any way saleable he puts into the bag at his back. He often finds large lumps of bread which have been thrown out as waste by the servants, and occasionally the house-keepers will give him some bones on which there is a little meat remaining; these constitute the morning meal of most of this class. One of my informants had a large lump of beef given to him a few days previous to my seeing him, on which ‘there was not less than a pound of meat’.

Peter Quennell, ed., Henry Mayhew: Mayhew’s London (London: Bracken Books 1984) 302.

A few pages further on Mayhew describes the squalid, revolting conditions in which the bone-grubbers, including many children, work, searching through refuse.

Between the London and St. Katherine’s Docks and Rosemary Lane, there is a large district interlaced with narrow lanes, courts, and alleys ramifying into each other in the most intricate and disorderly manner, insomuch that it would be no easy matter for a stranger to work his way through the interminable confusion without the aid of a guide, resident and well conversant with the locality. The houses are of the poorest description, and seem as if they tumbled into their places at random. Foul channels, huge dust-heaps, and a variety of other unsightly objects, occupy every open space, and dabbling among these are crowds of ragged, dirty children who grub and wallow, as if in their native element. None reside in these places but the poorest and most wretched of the population, and, as might be expected, this, the cheapest and filthiest locality of London, is the head-quarters of the bone-grubbers and other street-finders. I have ascertained on the best authority, that from the centre of this place, within a circle of a mile in diameter, there dwell not less than 200 persons of this class.

pp. 304-5.

That was London in the mid-19th century. Welcome to the brave new Victorian Age Cameron, Clegg, Osborne and IDS have brought us to.
