Clive and Dennis Talk about Their Sympathy for Transpeople and the Danger to Gay Men

November 14, 2022

One of the YouTube channels I listen to for information on the trans ideology is Dennis and Clive’s ‘The Queens’ Speech’. They’re a pair of severely normal gay men with gender critical views, one of whom is a lawyer. This makes it very valuable for looking at the controversy from a legal angle and how it effects people’s rights under the law. It’s certainly not as dry as this brief description would suggest, and it’s mixed with humour and wry observations of what the gay scene, which is just as informative for those of us outside it, who wish to understand it.

In their last video, episode 20, one of the pair stated that although he despised the ideology and its impact on gays and women, he didn’t hate transpeople themselves. Most of them simply wanted a quiet, ordinary life, and many of the most aggressive and vociferous trans rights advocates weren’t actually trans. But he was concerned that gender transition was being used as a kind of conversion therapy, and described how, when he was struggling with his sexuality as a schoolboy, he wondered if he was a girl trapped in a boy’s body. He’d been at the age when the erotic dreams had started, and he and another lad had been talking about them. His friend was straight, and so he’d been dreaming about the girls in his class, while the video’s host had understandably been dreaming about the boys. Being a randy teenager, he wondered if he’d get more boys if he’d been a girl. And so he tried on his sister’s clothes and went out to the dustbins, where he was spotted by his next-door neighbour, Mrs. Something-or-other. He went back inside feeling ashamed and embarrassed. He didn’t feel comfortable in female attire and didn’t try it again. But he says that a lot of gay men were like him, gender nonconforming, and their reaction to the transition of gay children is ‘That could have been me!’ Hence, this is part of his motivation to fight the ideology.

But he also stated that one of the problems with the trans ideology was that it took a large variety of gender-nonconforming people and lumped them into a single ideology. This includes everyone from weekend crossdressers to what used to be transexuals, all of whom had different attitudes and views, and then turned this into an ideology that had as its object the invasion of women’s spaces.

There were also some very chilling legal observations from Our Learned Friend on the video. This was about the SNP’s proposed changes to the Gender Recognition Act north of the border. This is intended to grant male and female status to people who believe they are members of the opposite sex, whether or not they have transitioned biologically. This obviously brings the danger of biological member entering women’s prisons, changing rooms and toilets. But it also has dangerous implications for transmen, who have not biologically transitioned. Because they are legally men, those that are still biologically women would be excluded from the legal rights enjoyed by women. They would not, for example, be legally entitled to maternity treatment because, under the law, they are men. This is important, as transmen have become pregnant in Britain and America with medical complications arising from the fact that it took time for the doctors attending them to realise that they were biologically female. One of these was an American transwoman, who had altered her birth certificate to read ‘male’. She was in labour but had presented herself at the hospital with abdominal pain and so was treated as if she were male. When the doctors and nurses treating her finally realised, he was she, tragically the baby had died.

I’ve stated before that I’ve no doubt there are people who really need such gender therapy. But there are many others for whom it is inappropriate and dangerous, not to mention the dangers the ideology presents to women and gender non-conforming gay men, for whom it may become another gay conversion therapy.

American Transpeople Joining Gun Clubs Against the Coming ‘Trans Genocide’

November 8, 2022

This is both weird and alarming. Karen Davis is a gender critical Black American woman, who gives her critique of the trans cult and its excesses on her vlog, ‘You’re Kidding, Right?’ on YouTube. She’s a musician and a music teacher. I think she teaches special children. She’s also been a care worker in a social club for schizophrenics. She has an excellent grasp of the medical literature and frequently cites relevant papers on the damaging side-effects of puberty blockers, gender transition surgery and the mental and physical differences between the sexes that persist despite the surgery and hormone treatment. She’s an important voice in the debate, but I deliberately haven’t posted her here. This is because she has very strong and uncompromising views, expressed in similarly strong language. And I don’t want to offend any of my readers unnecessarily.

Yesterday, however, she made a couple of posts reporting a very alarming development. It seems some American transpeople have worked themselves up into such a state of fear over an imagined coming genocide that they’re joining a set of gun clubs, ‘The Pink Pistols’, set up by gay people in the early 2000s in order to teach them to shoot in order to protect themselves. This came out when she was talking about the reaction among some trans people to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ passage of a law in Florida banning gender treatment for minors. This forbade doctors and clinicians from putting trans-identifying children on puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones or surgery. This is important, as gender surgeons have been performing mastectomies on girls as young as 12. DeSantis is a Republican, and while I generally despise the Republican party, I think he’s done the right thing about this. Children are way too young to be able to make responsible decisions about such life-changing medical treatment. After all, we don’t allow kids of 12 to buy tobacco or alcohol, and over here they can’t buy glue at that age. It’s also the case that 65-85 per cent of children with gender confusion actually grow out of it, usually settling down as gay men or women. There’s real concern among part of the gay community that gender reassignment surgery is being used by homophobic parents as a kind of gay conversion therapy. If this is the case, then it’s as nasty as the historic gay conversion techniques involving electric shocks, isolation, starvation, sleep deprivation and other sadistic tortures. I don’t doubt that there are some people who really need trans therapy and medical treatment, but there are also very many who don’t and for whom it is inappropriate and damaging.

The people on one of the trans chatrooms visited by Davies, however, interpreted DeSantis’ legislation as the first steps towards the trans holocaust. One poster, InnocenceClaire, said that she was having fantasies of killing people. Her partner was in the navy, and she was concerned about having to shoot members of the US military when the state openly began killing trans people. She was also thinking of emigrating to Canada. Someone then suggested she join Pink Pistols, which is the subject of a further vlog post by Davies.

Okay, I’m very definitely someone who believes very strongly in gun licensing and restrictions on firearms possession. But I honestly don’t blame gay Americans for setting up their own gun clubs considering the violent persecution gays have suffered and still do in some quarters. Western society is much more tolerant now than it was when I was growing up. But I’ve been told by American friends that even though homosexuality has been legalised at the federal level, many individual states continue to have laws against homosexuality. And I don’t doubt either that transpeople get their share of abuse and violence. While drag has been part of British pantomime and the Music Hall tradition since the 19th century, it was illegal for ‘men to walk about in the clothes of the opposite sex for immoral purposes’, as the act put it. I don’t know when it was legalised. One of the gobbets we had to read in a book intended to help young people navigate their way into adulthood in RE when I was at school was about a young transvestite bloke in prison. In the 90s Private Eye in its ‘Funny Old World’ column published the obituary of an older transvestite, who had been frequently up before the beak. And the violence and abuse against trans people was covered in the small press magazine Aeon – the Magazine of Transkind. One of the great commenters here has posted a link to a BBC report on the abuse a transwoman received from a mob after an ambulance arrived to take her to hospital in this country.

But from what I can tell, most of the violence, abuse and threats of violence in this controversy come from trans rights activists, who may not be trans themselves, against gender critical feminists. Maria Maclachlan of the ‘Peak Trans’ vlog was the victim of one assault. A feminist protest in Spain against that country’s new gender identification laws had to be abandoned because of the menacing mood of the trans counterprotesters. There has been a lot of argy-bargy from the trans activists at the rallies Kelly-Jay Keen has held in Britain, including Bristol and Brighton. One of the trans rights activists there set off a smoke bomb and another was arrested with a bag of knives. Keen is on a campaign tour of America. She wanted to speak in Portland, but received hostile, threatening messages and was told by the cops that they wouldn’t be able to protest her. She wisely called it off. Now there have been social media posts smearing her as a member of the Proud Boys. Similar threats and attacks have happened to others. There was outrage a couple of weeks ago when Fred Sargent, a senior member of the American gay community and a veteran of the Stonewall riots, was knocked to the ground at a Pride march and had coffee poured on him because he was carrying a banner stating that transwomen weren’t women. And there were any number of posts on Twitter by people posting about how TERFs – Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminists – were fascists and Nazis and should be killed.

In fact, the violence actually suffered by transpeople in Britain in America is small. I think in Britain three trans people were killed a couple of years ago, and there have fortunately been no more murdered since. According to Davis, 36 trans people have been killed in the Land of the Free this year. That’s obviously 36 too many, but it’s a tiny number compared to the 1,800 women murdered by their parents, often after they’ve given birth. Gender critical feminists aren’t fascists and there no trans holocaust.

I am not saying this to vilify transpeople, only to make the point that there are parts of that milieu that is violent and abusive. My fear is that this section of the trans community will tool itself up with firearms and bring them to demonstrations, like other armed groups. I can remember a couple of years ago when a militia group turned up to face down Black Lives Matter protesters. There was a stand-off, but mercifully no-one was shot. My fear is that some trans protesters equipped with firearms won’t exercise similar restraint, not if they really believe that TERFs are Nazis. And that would be a catastrophe. Apart from the loss of the life, many gays and transpeople are afraid that the militancy and extremism of the trans rights movement will provoke a backlash against all of them. That could very well come true if someone is shot at a rally. I really hope cooler heads prevail.

Gender Transition as Gay Conversion Therapy

October 21, 2022

I’ve clipped this little segment about the way one mother came to view her infant son as trans in stark opposition to the possibility that the little fellow instead might just be gay from a mrmenno video on YouTube, ‘Graham Norton’s Accountability Problem – A Gay Man’s response’. Menno’s a gender critical gay man who posts videos deeply critical of the trans ideology and some of the people pushing it. In his video, he criticises Graham Norton for stating in an interview on TV that J.K. Rowling has ‘problematic views’ and refusing to defend Graham Linehan, the writer of Father Ted, who has also been viciously attacked, vilified and cancelled because he is also a staunch opponent of the trans ideology. Menno is especially critical of Norton because of the way he has thrown other gay men and lesbians under the bus. The gay community as well as biological women has been hard hit by the trans ideology. Homosexuality has been redefined as same-gender attraction, so that gays and lesbians are attacked as transphobic if they do not accept as lovers people of the opposite sex, who identify as trans.

I don’t wish to start another argument over the trans issue. I’m very much aware that many of the great people who read this blog don’t share my views. And I also want to make clear that I don’t support abuse, assault or discrimination against anyone because of their sexuality or sexual presentation. But I think the video makes a very good point when it discusses how some parents seem to be using gender transition as a way of ‘curing’ their children of gayness. The segment I’ve clipped below contains a statement from an American woman that she did this to her little boy to stop him being gay, as he was playing with girl’s toys. Graham Linehan has said that he’s been told by whistle blowers at the now defunct Tavistock clinic that many of the children they saw were gay. They had been brought to the clinic for treatment by their extremely homophobic parents. If true, then it is, in my opinion, frightening and disgusting. I don’t doubt that there are people are genuinely trans, and who benefit from such therapy and surgery. But it should not be used, as it appears to be by some, as a form of gay conversion therapy.

This is why I’m putting this clip up. It’s a confession that she turned to this by the mother of a gay child. And this has a direct bearing on Labour’s LGBTQ+ policy. The party has said it wants to ban all gay and trans conversion therapy. This is extremely questionable, as the brutal methods of gay conversion therapy have been rightly illegal for a long time. But the ban on trans conversion therapy seems to be designed to stop alternative forms of treatment, such as psychiatric counselling, that may stop patients transitioning, for whom gender reassignment surgery may be inappropriate. And if homophobic parents are using it as a form of gay conversion therapy, then transitions of this sort should be banned just as the Labour party intends. To see the clip, go to:

Mad Right-Wing YouTuber Alex Belfield Banned by YouTube for Two Weeks

February 13, 2022

A day or two ago Alex Jones, the right-wing host of the Voice of Reason channel on YouTube, was handed a temporary ban for two weeks. At first it was thought that he’d been banned for three months, but Andy the Gabby Cabby, another YouTuber sympathetic to Belfield, has cleared that up. He’s been in communication with him, and apparently he’s only been suspended for a fortnight, but it was because he had already had two strikes against him within a three month period before suffering the third complaint resulting in his suspension. The Blackbelt Barrister, a YouTube legal expert, has also weighed in on the case. Citing expert legal opinion on the 2003 Information Act, the Barrister states that, in the opinion of the judicial authorities, the Act should only be used against communications that physically threaten a person’s safety or which stir up racial hatred. They should not be used to chill personal opinion or censor offensive views, even if those views make someone feel uncomfortable.

This is fine, but I don’t think Belfield has actually been charged with anything under the Act. Belfield has been banned from YouTube because it’s a private company, as are the other internet platforms. As private companies they are quite within their rights to set their own terms and conditions and restrict what may be said on them. The right got very upset about all this a few years ago when they started being censored for issues like misogyny, homophobia, racism, transphobia and so on. Left-wingers, however, pointed out that this was simply private industry acting as a private company and not in the public interest. They also pointed out how ironic it was this had happened to the right, who are staunch supporters of private companies against state-owned industries. There were even demands from some that the government should set up a nationalised internet platform to allow a proper exchange of views without censorship. Which would be really ironic considering that the right is worried about government censorship and attacks on free speech rather than that by powerful corporations.

So what brought about Belfield’s ban? Well, it seems from another post by the Gabby Cabby that it was a complaint against Belfield by Carol Vorderman because of his comments about her ‘assets’. The Cabby stated it was unclear whether this was about her property, or something rather more personal. Quite.

Belfield has regularly criticised the former Countdown star along with a number of other celebrities including Katie Price and Philip Schofield. This includes comments on her home or homes as well as more personal remarks about how she has apparently enhanced her bosom to retain the attention of the jaded public. He’s satirised her as a character ‘Carol Vordernorks’ in drag with fake breasts and a thick Brummie accent. I’ve never found this to be funny and it’s really just personal abuse. My sympathies in this instance are very firmly with Vorderman. I don’t know her, but she’s always come across as perfectly genial and polite on TV, and is herself an extremely intelligent woman. Not only does she have a degree in engineering from Oxford, but she’s also a pilot and a patron of the air cadets. She’s also active trying to get more people, especially girls, into science and flight, and has done her bit supporting the RAF. I really don’t know what Belfield has against her, as it doesn’t seem like there’s the same kind of personal feud he apparently has with the BBC and its producers, and the presenter Jeremy Vine, which have seen him involved in a legal battle over the past few years.

Belfield himself has thanked YouTube for paying for his house and giving him a livelihood, and claims his shows about the country are now sold out. He states that he will come back, but is going to launch a ‘secret VOR channel’ on the 28th of this month. This seems to confirm rumours that he’s about to vanish behind a paywall.

Belfield has some very right-wing views, some of which I regard as particularly dangerous. Like his demands that the NHS should be privatised, although in a video he made shortly before he was banned he urged people not to give to the NHS, because this would tell Johnson that we can be charged, ‘and then we’re all f***ed’. I wonder what he thinks will happen if he gets his way and the NHS is privatised. I am well aware that there are members of this blog who heartily despise Belfield. I watch some of his videos because he says openly what the rest of the right doesn’t, but who share his attitudes. And I do share his opposition to the transgender craze, but not trans people, which is causing real suffering to mentally and emotionally vulnerable young people. I firmly believe that some youngster are being misdiagnosed and put on a long course of medical treatment and physical transformation predominantly for ideological reasons and against their best interests. Some of the children now identified as transgender seem to be gay and come from extremely homophobic backgrounds, so it looks like a form of gay conversion therapy. This can be compared to the situation in Iran, where gays are given the choice of transitioning to the opposite sex or execution. I realise that such gender critical views are controversial, but the science behind them, to this layman’s eyes, seems solid. There is considerable censorship of such views, including threats and personal violence. Therefore, on this score, I support Belfield for posting against the transgender craze even if I find some of his other views mistaken, offensive and dangerous.

And rather than seeing anyone banned, I would prefer that people instead showed their opposition by blogging against them and winning arguments. I would rather have this done to make their views unpopular rather than censorship.

Because there are too many attempts already to censor what we can say with the Tories doing their best to outlaw public demonstrations against their monstrous policies.
