Trump Advisor Sebastian Gorka Wanted for Firearms Offences in Hungary

January 27, 2018

Remember Sebastian Gorka, who was one of Trump’s key advisers in government, before the Orange Buffoon lost his rag and sacked him, like he’s done to so many others? Gorka was of Hungarian extraction, and had strong links to the Hungarian Far Right. He wore the insignia of the Vitezi Rend, the Hungarian chivalric order set up by Admiral Horthy, the Hungarian dictator, who led the country into a pact with Nazi Germany and assisted them with the Holocaust and deportations of Jews in his country. Gorka has also been personally active in a number of Hungarian Far Right organisations, and was one of the founders of one of them.

Turns out Gorka’s a wanted man. In this clip from the David Pakman Show, host David Pakman and his producer discuss the news that Gorka is wanted for firearms offences in Hungary going back before he became a member of Trump’s cabinet. Gorka has responded to this by making a non-denial. He Tweeted that the warrant was put out after he moved to America, adding ‘moron’ for good, insulting effect. But as they point out, this isn’t actually a denial that he is wanted for these crimes. Pakman also draws parallels of moving to America from South America, where he grew up. It’s perfectly possible that Gorka committed the offences after he emigrated to the US. Just because his primary residence is now the USA, does not mean he hasn’t been back to his family’s old homeland from time to time. Just as it doesn’t mean that because someone lives in California they have never been out of that state.

Pakman and his producer also point out that this also has dire implications for Trump’s claims that he’s hard on immigration and stands for law and order. Well, no, clearly he doesn’t. He claimed he was going to be super-hard on vetting his staff. He clearly wasn’t, otherwise Gorka’s arrest warrant would have been flagged, noted, and he wouldn’t have got the job. On the other hand, perhaps he was, and the Generalissimo of Reality TV didn’t care. Pakman also contrasts Gorka with the Mexican and Hispanic immigrants, who enter America to do physical work, like labouring. This wasn’t the case of a normal immigrant, who actually does something useful, like put in windows, fix the plumbing or mow the lawn. No, Gorka was a criminal immigrant, whom Trump took into the White House itself.

The last minute or so of the clip is a piece of advertising for their sponsors. I’m sorry for this, but I realise that shows like Pakman will only survive by advertising, and need sponsorship. Because Google is desperately trying to close down any left-wing news sites on the spurious grounds of combatting fake news.

As far as Gorka’s unsavoury activities and connections go, I honestly don’t think that Trump cares. He’s surrounded himself with all kinds of deeply unpleasant characters with extreme right-wing views, like Richard Spencer and the Alt Right. A century ago Gorka’s own ethnicity would have been problem for American nativists. Back in the 1920 right-wing American ethnic nationalists really didn’t like immigrants from eastern and southern Europe, like Poles and Hungarians, because they were considered racially inferior. Hitler in his Table Talk remarks that Hungarians are ‘men of the Steppe’, which is sort-of true in that the Magyars had been steppe nomads before the entered the Pannonian March in the 9th/10th century. And the Nazis despised the Poles and other Slavs as racial inferiors. Millions of Poles and related peoples were imported into Nazi Germany to work as slave labour. However, the Nazis strictly outlawed any sexual contact between Germans and Poles as a threat to Aryan racial purity. And if you look at some of the diagrams showing the differences between peoples in Nazi texts, like the handbook given out to the Hitler Youth, they portray the Poles and the other Slavs – Russians, Belorussians, Ukrainians, Czechs, Slovaks, Ukrainians and so on – as having very Asiatic features similar to those of the Chinese and other east Asian peoples.

This racist contempt for the Slavonic peoples was reversed after the War, when the Nazis turned their attention to Black and Asian nationalist movements, and non-White immigration. The Shoah had made anti-Semitism absolutely unacceptable to most people, although in Britain and America groups like the National Front, BNP and the American Nazi Party were still goose stepping around in Nazi uniforms as late as the 1970s. Then the White Nationalists decided that Magyars and particularly Slavs, weren’t subhuman after all, and started actively recruiting them. Hence the re-emergence in these countries of anti-Semitism, now allied with a vicious Islamophobia, amongst a plethora of Far Right parties. And Sebastian Gorka’s inclusion in Trump’s cabinet of horrors, along with other prominent leaders and spokespeople for the racist Right.

Hungarian workers, like the other varied immigrant groups in America and the new, Hispanic immigrants Trump and his supporters despise, contributed greatly to building the American economy. One of the heroes of working class folklore amongst the steelworkers of Pittsburgh, was Hungarian. He became a larger than life figure, similar to Paul Bunyan in the logging camps of the West, and was reputedly able to paddle and splash in superheated molten metal. This came at a time when working people had strong unions, which could demand respect and insist on their rights. All of which has been destroyed by pernicious Reaganomics and the neo-liberal assault on the working and lower middle classes that has followed it.

We need more working class heroes like the immigrant workers, Irish, Chinese, Italian, Slav, Hungarian, and oppressed domestic indigenous groups like Afro-Americans, who physically built America, toiling on its roads, railways and factories. And as Pakman points out, the Hispanic immigrants have proved themselves invaluable in doing dirty jobs no-one else wants to do. In fact, after one town kicked them all out, it then found it had a labour shortage and appealed for them to come back.

What we don’t need, is more far Right racists like Gorka and his domestic counterparts in the Alt-Right, Klan and various Nazi parties.

The Break-Up of American Zionism and the Anti-Semitism Allegations

May 28, 2016

I’m aware that I’m in serious risk of doing this subject to death, but this needs to be said. I’ve put up several blogs featuring the videos of talks and interviews given by Israeli and American Jewish activists and historians – Ilan Pappe, Elizabeth Baltzer and Norman Finkelstein, laying bare the terrible history of Israel’s persecution and systematic ethnic cleansing of the indigenous Palestinian population. As I’ve repeatedly said, this is because of the smears against leading figures in the Labour party that they are anti-Semites, when they are nothing of the sort, and demonstrably nothing of the sort. Ken Leninspart, when he was leader of the GLC, was notorious and reviled for his anti-racism, anti-sexism, anti-homophobia stance. And if you want to read what he has to say about anti-Semitism, it’s written down in his book, Livingstone’s Labour. He decries it as one of the worst forms of reaction, along with all other forms of racism, whether it be against Blacks, Jews and Irish. Naz Shah has the backing of her local synagogue. And Jackie Walker is the daughter of a Russian Jew and Black civil rights activist, deported from America as one of the ‘Reds under the Bed’ McCarthy and J. Edgar Hoover were so scared of. Her other half is also Jewish. It’s truly grotesque that she should be slandered as an anti-Semite when it is clearly not the case.

Jimmy Carter

These slanders have not been confined to Britain. They were made against the Jewish Outreach Officer of one of the Democratic presidential candidates. The lady was forced to resign, despite the fact that she was not only Jewish, but a very active member of her community dedicated to their welfare. They even tried it on with Jimmy Carter, who was just about called everything bar a card-carrying member of the American Nazi party and supporter of Stormfront. Again, dead wrong. I can remember way back in the 1970s when old peanut teeth hosted the Camp David peace negotiations between Israel and Egypt. In his own state, he was instrumental in removing the colour bar and segregation laws against people of colour. He is not, and never has been an anti-Semite or a Nazi, whatever his failings as president were. And he certainly doesn’t have the sheer amount of blood on his hands that his successor, Reagan, had through his sponsorship of real Fascists in South and Central America.

And Carter showed that he wasn’t afraid to prove he was innocent of all charges, guv. He went in front of the students at Brandeis University, the biggest secular Jewish university in the US to debate one of the author of the smears, Alan Dershowitz. He got three or four standing ovations simply for appearing on stage. And when it came to Dershowitz’s time to speak, 2/3 of the audience walked out even before the old Neo-Con warmonger had opened his mouth.

Jewish Americans Liberal

American Jews are overwhelmingly liberal. Most of them want a two-state solution – for the Palestinians to have their own state. By and large they despise George Dubya Bush and 70 per cent of them are opposed to the war in Iraq. And despite the move of the majority of Israeli voters to the right, Ilan Pappe stated in his video that Israelis were decent people. He stated that going around, talking to people, especially small businessmen and farmers, who knew what it was like to have to struggle to make something for yourself, won people over to the Palestinian cause.

Livingstone, Shah and Walker Historically Correct

Nothing Leninspart, Shah or Walker said should be remotely interpreted as racist. Red Ken was factually correct: Hitler did briefly support Zionism and the emigration or deportation of the Jews to Israel. Walker was smeared because she compared the treatment of Black Africans under slavery to the Holocaust, and the persecution of the Palestinians in Israel. Now, I can understand historians picking at this to see if they really are equivalent. Africans were captured and worked to death simply as instruments of labour, rather than because there was a conscious desire to exterminate Black Africans, as in the Holocaust. Though against that was the gradual erection of the whole intellectual edifice trying to justify their enslavement as racially inferior, just as the Nazis used twisted biological theory to justify their extermination of the Jews. It’s reasonable for historians and political scholars to debate the similarities and dissimilarities between them. But I don’t think many genuine scholars, certainly not of the slave trade or the Holocaust, would dispute that these are terrible crimes against humanity. And the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians should be no different. There is a real debate on the legal definitions of genocide, because there are so many of them. So many, in fact, that I’ve heard an academic of the subject state that these definitions should be dropped simply in favour of ordinary, common sense. When states, or their majority populations start persecuting an ethnic group or trying to suppress their identity through force, then it’s genocide.

What also comes out is that the views of Livingstone et al by and large are supported by historical scholarship, including those of mainstream historians. Finkelstein states that there’s little difference between Israeli school textbooks and dissident, left-wing scholars on the origins of Israel. It is known that Israel had a programme of ethnic cleansing from the very first. It is incontrovertible that Israel is engaged in mass torture and human rights violations. And Finkelstein himself states that it is the Israelis, not the Palestinians, who consistently failed to ‘give piece a chance’ in the words of Lennon and Ono.

Denial of Palestinian’s History ‘Historicide’

As for the view produced by the historian, Peters, that there were no Arabs until the Jews settled in Israel, bringing development and jobs, this has been comprehensively disproven. Finkelstein or Pappe, I can’t remember which, describe it as ‘historicide’, the deliberate destruction of a people’s historical reality.

Jewish and Israeli Opposition to Persecution of Palestinians

There is absolutely no question that the facts are on the side of the accused. And I honestly believe that if Leninspart, Shah and certainly Walker were given the chance to rebut their enemies in debate at a university, they would do so in the same way Carter and his supporters vociferously routed Dershowitz. 72 per cent of British Jews say that Israel is important to them, compared to only 50 per cent of American Jews under 35. But that does not mean that British Jews do not want to see an end to their country’s persecution of the Palestinians. There are Jewish organisations in Israel helping the Palestinians defend their homes, families and livelihoods. You can find pictures of Orthodox rabbis in the long, black coats and broad-brimmed hats, forming cordons and lying down in front of bulldozers. University anti-racism and Palestinian solidarity groups have invited members of these organisations to speak. It would surprise me not one whit if many of those Brits reaching out to Palestine were Jews, and active members of their universities’ Jewsocs.

Political Motives behind Accusations

This isn’t about historical truth, however. This is about the Israel lobby trying to derail any criticism of the state and its persecution of the indigenous Arabs with accusations of anti-Semitism. It’s about the Blairites trying to hang on to power in Labour party by playing the race card against Jeremy Corbyn. But those accused have no real case against them. In any just court of law, they would be declared innocent, with damages found against their accusers.

Libel and Establishment Lies and Smears

Unfortunately, when it comes to libel, there is no justice in Britain. You are guilty until proven rich. And the accusations suit the British establishment very well. The Tories love it, because it harms Labour. And the Beeb’s Newsnight programme with Evan Davis uncritically swallowed all the guff from the guests that Labour had an ‘anti-Semitism problem’. One of the guests on RT’s Going Underground, with Afshid Rattansi, stated that the smears looked like the establishment coup against a leftwing British prime minister, as described in the novel and Channel 4 TV series, A Very British Coup. Listening to Finkelstein, I think that’s entirely plausible. There were smears by the establishment against Harold Wilson, which accused him of being a Communist spy. Many of them seemed to come from MI5. Finkelstein states that American funds Israel far and beyond the amount it gives to other nations, because it sees it as defending its interests in the Middle East.

Britain and America Supporting Israel to Retain Power in Region

I believe that this, or something like it, explains the British establishment’s attitude to the allegations. I can remember reading years ago a discussion on a right-wing American website about Israel, the Arabs and Britain under the Mandate. The site took the bog-standard right-wing American view that Brits must be anti-Semites, ’cause all Europeans hate Jews, as shown by the Holocaust and the increasingly secular nature of European society. The participants in the debate argued that the British deliberately set the Jews and Arabs at each other’s throats in order to maintain their control over the region. They quote the correspondence between one of the British officers involved in the Mandate, on this point. The quote was merely his own conclusion after studying the situation, and did not conclusively prove that it was so. They also quoted other correspondence, in which one British politician accused another wishing to establish a Jewish presence in the region as a kind of outpost of British influence, similar to Protestant Belfast amidst Roman Catholic Ireland.

It would not surprise me if something like that were the case. It may simply be that Britain gives unconditional support to Israel, because the Americans also give Israel their unconditional, or nearly unconditional support, in order to retain influence in the region. And since we declined as a world power, we’ve been acting as the American Empire’s junior partner and lickspittle. One former British ambassador to the US even went on Radio 4 and said that he was told by the Mandarins in London that his job was to go to Washington and ‘get up the American’s arse and stay there’.

The Beeb is the voice of the British establishment. It’s news programmes consistently support the Conservatives and industry, especially finance industry, against Labour and the trade unions. The establishment undoubtedly identifies British interests with those of Israel, though Robin Ramsey, the editor of Lobster, has said that the Beeb ties itself in knots trying to deny that it is pro-Zionist. So it is, unfortunately, a foregone conclusion that the Beeb and the establishment won’t give the accused a fair hearing. Not if there’s even more millions to be made from another bloody war.

Fighting Back against the Lies

Which doesn’t mean that the accused can’t win. The mainstream American media is also very staunchly pro-Israel and rabidly demonises the Arabs and the Muslim world. Despite this, in the polls Israel is just one point more popular amongst Americans than Iran. And you consider the massive negative campaign and image of that country in American media. The Israel Lobby – AIPAC and the leadership of J Street in America, the Labour Friends of Israel and BICOM over here, know that they’re losing the public’s hearts and minds. Hence the smears. I think the best course would be for Livingstone, Shah and Walker to stand up to them, call them out on their lies. Don’t expect any honesty from the press, ’cause that went long ago. But do it in the court of popular opinion – at public meetings, university seminars and talks, at literary events. Adam Shatz, of the London Review of Books, introduced Finkelstein and Baltzer when they spoke in New York. Perhaps the LRB can be relied on to give an unbiased platform. They should, at least regarding Jackie Walker. I can remember way back in the 1990s they published a piece on slavery at the time it was once again coming back into national consciousness. The treatment of Black people, and their abuse and discrimination, is of obvious acute interest to Jackie Walker, and so I think that more than some of the other media, they could be more inclined to give a sympathetic hearing.

This ain’t just about defending a group of accused Labour MPs. This is also about defending free speech and historical scholarship against the personal smears and gross historical distortions of a mendacious and deceitful establishment. An establishment that is prepared to grind down and destroy Jews, as well as Muslims, Christians, and those with no religion, in its campaign to preserve a monstrously racist order.

Trump Mocks Sikh Protestor at Rally

February 25, 2016

This video comes from the 26th of last month – January, 2016. It shows Donald Trump sneering at a Sikh protestor wearing a turban and holding a banner saying, ‘End Hate’. The guy is grabbed by Trump’s stewards and guided – or manhandled, depending on your point of view – towards the exit. As he goes, Trump asks ‘Was he wearing one of those hats?’ It appears to be a reference to the guy’s turban, which Sikhs wear for the same reason they don’t cut their hair and have beards: it’s part of their religion.

The incident occurs just when Trump is in full-flow about the al-Qaeda terrorists in 9/11 flying the planes into the Twin Towers. I’m not sure this is a coincidence. In Britain, the first victims of the backlash against Muslims after 9/11 were Sikhs, because Osama bin Laden was wearing a turban in his propaganda video. It looks like Trump’s expanding his racism to encompass Sikhs, as well as Muslims, Mexicans, Blacks and just about everyone else who ever looked at him funny, or gave The Apprentice a bad review.

The gentleman who posted this on his channel on Youtube in voiceover talks about why electing Trump would be an appalling move. Basically, Trump is a buffoon, who has offended every other nation except Putin. He points out that even we Brits are thinking about banning him. ‘The Brits!’, he exclaims, ‘they never ban anybody!’ We do. Quite a long line of ’em, actually, including Lincoln Rockwell of the American Nazi party and Michael Savage, for the same reason. Quite apart from the Islamist fanatics and hate-mongers. The commenter asks how Trump is going to be able to sit down with the other nations at international conferences. He fears that other countries will think Americans are the same as this moron, if he’s elected, and says jokingly that everyone will try and nuke them. That’s actually part of the danger. As he says in rather more colourful language, Trump is emotionally volatile and unstable and is extremely antagonistic to people he feels have offended him. It’s a psychological failing that could make a diplomatic crisis worse, and escalate minor friction or difference of opinion into something much worse.

The actual clip of Trump throwing the protestor out is only a few seconds long, so there’s other shots in here of Trump looking ridiculous, including some splendid footage of his blonde coiffure waving in the breeze. The man’s a grim bigot, but like all massive egos obsessed with their self-importance, he’s also a comic figure as well. Don’t be mistaken: he is extremely dangerous, but he’s also someone who can and should be mocked and ridiculed.

Trump Retweets Yet Another Neo-Nazi

February 24, 2016

This is another video from The Young Turks. It’s about a piece of old news, which I’ve only just noticed. And it’s yet more racism from Donald Trump. In this piece, Jonathan Harris, Jimmy Dore and John Iadarola talk about Trump retweeting yet another White supremacist. The tweet itself showed a picture of a dishevelled Jeb Bush holding up a cardboard sign saying ‘Vote Bush’. The hashtag for the message, however, was #Whitegenocide, from a Nazi who called himself ‘George Bushovitz’, describing his homeland as ‘Jewmerica’, and whose icon was the founder of the American Nazi party, George Lincoln Rockwell.

The trio lament that they’ve given so much publicity to this Nazi. They quote a message on the Stormfront Neo-Nazi boards, stating that this is good propaganda, although they don’t know about whether it will be good for Trump at the election. They also make the point that this shows how pernicious the profit motive is in news. Joe Scarborough and other news presenters should call Trump out for ‘the racist, misogynist disgusting piece of walking flesh that he is’, as Jonathan Harris, the Black presenter, describes him. But they don’t, because Trump’s good for the ratings, and so they don’t want to stop him phoning in. Harris also makes the excellent point that this shows how far America has moved to the Right. Compared to Trump and Palin and the other lunatics, Ronald Reagan now looks like a liberal.

Earlier this evening I put up a piece from The Young Turks in which they commented on Trump’s nostalgia for the day when protestors at rallies could be beaten to the ground, and how his verbal endorsement of violence shows just how similar he is to the Neo-Nazi death squads in the former Yugoslavia and the Brownshirts in Nazi Germany. I wrote in my post about it that he does remind me of the Blackshirt Nazi gangs and their songs about beating up Jews. And this is starting to seem almost literally true, without hyperbole. The term ‘Jewmerica’ for the United States suggests that the Nazi is another believer in ZOG. This is the acronym the Nazis have cooked up for Zionist Occupation Government, and refers to their bonkers conspiracy theory that the Jews have secretly taken over the US. You can tell how stupid that is, because the last time I looked, most American politicians were gentiles. It’s dangerous nonsense that should never be endorsed by any serious American politician, let alone one aiming at the White House. Trump is frightening, and if he wins, he will only bring about more death, violence and terror.

Donald Trump Isn’t the Only Nazi in the Republican Party

February 1, 2016

This is just a reminder that, despite the controversy surrounding his outrĂ© views on Mexicans and Muslims, Donald Trump isn’t the only racist by far in the Republican party. Remember the furore a few years ago when it was revealed that one of the party’s leading members, David Dukes, was also senior member of the Klan hierarchy? He was something like Grand Dragon, Wizard or whatever. The scandal was reprised a few years ago when the Louisiana Republicans found someone else in their midst, who was publicly outed as a member of the Invisible Empire of Sheet-wearing Psychopaths. They were going to throw him out, until the local Grand Dragon or whatever stepped in, and announced that he knew a lot more senior Republicans, who were also members of his vile gang. He threatened to reveal publicly just who they were, if they threw his boy out of the Party.

Way back in the 1980s, the Republican governor of Arizona, ‘Ev’ Meacham, cancelled Martin Luther King’s birthday as a paid state holiday. Hunter S. Thompson declared it was a decision that shamed everyone except the American Nazi Party and the Klan. In a piece of probably hyperbole, the great gonzo journalist declared that even George Wallace was embarrassed.

and others are just barking. Way back in the 1980s there was one Republican politico, who adopted a novel approach to crime. In order to dissuade impressionable kids from embarking on a life of villainy, he wanted every teenager to be banged up in gaol for three days on their 18th birthday. Thus chastened, they would return to normal life determined to be model citizens.

That guy was bad, but he wasn’t the worst in that direction. Another politico took it to a whole new level of crazy. That Republican was bonkers, but at least he wasn’t racist. The other fellow was. I was told by an American friend that one of the Republican politicos had decided on a frightening method of tackling crime in the Land of Free. Convinced that most crime was committed by young Black men under thirty, this fine gentleman adopted a strategy that would have delighted the Aryan Nations: he recommended gaoling every Black man from 18 to 30. After they reached the age of maturity, and had got the presumed urge to beat, rob, rape and kill out of their systems, they would be released back into society. If this is true, then it’s an horrific idea to criminalise a whole section of society. It’s amazing that these people ever get elected to anything, let alone congress or the senate.

It also shows that while Donald Trump is a howling racist, there are many others that are almost as bad, if not worse. You just don’t hear about them, as for the most part they’ve kept out of public eye by simply representing the local crazies in their part of America. In this election, they’ve been overshadowed by Trump. But they’re there, nonetheless. And one of the dangers of the Trump campaign is that, even if he doesn’t win, his considerable electoral gains and popularity will embolden them.
