‘Bollocks to Blair’ Shirts – A Suitable Left-Wing Response to Starmer

A little while ago I wrote a piece about an adverts for rugby and polo shirts printed with the slogan ‘Bollocks to Blair’ in an old copy of Private Eye for 2nd – 15th September 2005. They’re very clearly aimed at Tories, but they also struck me as a suitable response to Tony Blair himself and the various members of his faction, who were trying to topple Jeremy Corbyn.

Well, they’ve had their way. Their deliberate intriguing and constant smearing of Corbyn and his allies and supporters as anti-Semites cost Labour the election. Corbyn has departed, and been replaced by Keir Starmer. Who despite claiming to support Labour’s manifesto pledges has in fact broken all of them.

And so it seems once again that the shirts’ simple message still has resonance despite the gap of 15 years.

It’s too bad there aren’t any saying ‘Bollocks to Starmer’ for his supporters of betrayal of Labour and its leadership.
