Good Friday Greetings

Today is Good Friday, the day when Christians across the world remember Christ’s trial by Pontius Pilate, His crucifixion and death, and look forward to His glorious resurrection three days later on Easter Sunday. St. Paul calls Christ ‘the Firstborn of the dead’, as Christians since the earliest days of the church have seen His resurrection as the precursor of what will happen to everyone at the end of time. And this belief in a general resurrection came to Christianity from Judaism, where, I believe, it is called the Olam Ha-Ba, or the World To Come. And as another Abrahamic faith, this belief in the ultimate resurrection of all humanity by the Almighty is one of the fundamental tenets of Islam.

I also feel at this time we should remember prisoners of conscience across the world, regardless of the political or religious views we hold. Like the crackdown on various dissenting religious groups, like the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Putin’s Russia, and atheists and the other non-Wahhabi religions and philosophies in Saudi Arabia. It’s grotesque that people belonging to either of these groups should be called ‘terrorists’ simply for holding the views they do, without harming anyone.

On a more positive note, I just wish all the readers of this blog a great and happy Easter weekend, whether they are religious or otherwise.

Best wishes to you all.

Hi Beastie, I’m not religious but I keep an open mind I read this piece with interest because I was confused about what was good about someone dying horribly.

Happy Easter to you and yours and thank you for the work you do!!!

I am also thinking about and hoping things work out for Julian Assange, because like him or not I think what he has done is vitally important and the outcome could alter journalism for ever, maybe in the wrong way!!

Hi Beast have I done or said something wrong? I miss your replies to my comments. I haven’t been on much lately because i have had a bad mental crisis, I have done nothing wrong but I have Ordered to attend group therapy sessions but I know that won’t help me and so I am being threatened by people who are supposed to help me and I feel isolated and very scared.

I am sorry if I have offended you in any way!!!
I have lost the enail with your email address in it mt email is jomaya.jomaya@aol.co.uk

Hi Jo, and thanks very much for the comments! You haven’t offended me at all, and I’m always glad when you and the others reply to my pieces! I’m afraid I was just away from the computer for a time yesterday afternoon and evening, that’s all.

Re: Julian Assange – very many people are worried about what this all means. Some people admire him, others think he’s a pratt. But like him or not, Wikileaks has made some very important revelations about what the western military and espionage complex are doing. At this moment a lot of people are concerned that journalism in the west is becoming simply propaganda for the powers that be. So you certainly aren’t alone in your concerns here.

As for the bad mental episode – really sorry you’ve had that, Jo! And I share your concerns about group therapy. My parents were worried that I’d be put in with something like that when I had my breakdown nearly thirty years ago. Fortunately, they didn’t. I don’t know what can be done to help you with this, as the Tories do seem to have taken this up as their latest quack cure for anxiety, depression and other mental health problems. All I can say to you is be strong. Perhaps you could get your doctor or a proper mental health professional to say that this form of therapy would be unsuitable for you? You’ve probably tried something like this already, but it’s just a thought. Thanks for your email address. I’ll send you mine. If you need any further help, or simply to get things off your chest, feel free to contact me.

Thank you Beastie, You have really made my day!! I am feeling much happier and also the comments on my MH concerns, I have been told that people in prisons especially in the US use group therapy as part of their sentences.

I was watching the Young Turks and Damage Report about Assange Apparently he has set up a data bomb, designed to leak all sorts of wiki leak stuff.

Ring of fire hosted by Farron cousins is also really good to watch, apparently if Trump loses in 20/20 he will refuse to go!!

I hope you and your readers have a fantastic weekend!!
