Vox Political on the Anti-Blairite T-Shirt: Another Blairite PR Stunt

The Blairites don’t ever change, do they? In office, New Labour was notorious for its spin and stage managed media stunts. They were also notorious for stabbing other Labour MPs and cabinet colleagues in the back through ‘negative briefing’, if those politicos went ‘off message’ and started espousing views or policies not sanctioned by the Dear Leader. Even now Labour’s out of office, and the Blairites are on the defensive within the party, they still can’t give up old habits. Now that their power is being challenged by the rise of Jeremy Corbyn and the old Labour left, they’ve returned to their old tricks of manufacturing media stunts in order to smear their opponents.

The risible and slanderous anti-Semitism allegations are part of this. But this clearly hasn’t been enough. And so they’ve invented a few more scandals. Remember when Corbyn was heckled the other week at a gay rights rally? Except that instead of being an angry Labour supporter, the heckler was Tom Mauchline, a paid-up member of Portland Communications, a PR company owned by Will Straw, the son of Jack Straw.

And then there’s that hateful T-shirt. This says ‘Eradicate the Right-Wing Blairite Vermin’. This was prominently on display at a Labour party rally last week, with various media commentators uttering gasps of outrage at how nasty and vicious Corbynite Old Labour was. More reason to keep them out of power, they argued.

Except that it isn’t. It’s another PR stunt by the Blairites. Mike over at Vox Political has put up an article from Craig Murray, which shows a photograph of the elderly lady wearing the T-shirt, flanked by two youngster, both of whom are pointing to it and smiling. And the all look thoroughly pleased with themselves. As well they might, as the young woman on the right is Anna Philips, of the Blairite pressure group, Progress. The young man on the left is Lewis Parker, who apparently considers himself a ‘creative strategist and media guru’. In other words, he’s another PR man.

It’s pretty much business as usual for the Blairites, who seem to be doing their best to compete with the former Soviet Union and Goebbel’s in Nazi Germany with stage-managed political stunts and very heavily orchestrated ‘spontaneous demonstrations’ in favour of the regime. It’s all as fake as New Labour.

Unfortunately, what’s all too real is the misery New Labour has caused. Blair, Broon and the others deliberately continued and escalated the Tory privatisation of the NHS, preparing the way for Andrew Lansley’s Health and Social Care bill of 2012. They are also responsible for cutting back welfare benefits and introducing the infamous Work Capable Tests, which have resulted in the genuinely disabled being thrown off benefits as fraudulently judged ‘fit to work’. And when I say ‘fraudulent’, I mean that the tests and those who adjudicate them are frauds, not the claimants. Upwards of 500 people have died in poverty due to this. 290,000 people, who suffer from mental illness, have seen their conditions exacerbated by the tests, and 4.7 million people are now in food poverty.

But Anna Philips is all right. Look how she’s grinning. She isn’t Blair or Broon, but as a member of Progress, she supports their policies and the suffering they have inflicted in the name of neoliberal economics and getting lucrative donations from Blair’s corporate fat-cat friends. So if you want to know why you’ve been sanctioned without benefits, or can’t get a doctor’s appointment, or been told your hospitals about to be closed in order to support a private enterprise one down the road, just opened with NHS money, she’s one of those to ask.

Tonight 8pm Channel 5 ‘The Blair rich project’ about Cherie and Tiny’s amassed wealth since 2007, please see: https://davidhencke.com/2016/07/03/chilcot-and-the-blair-rich-project/

Saw headline in The Express today (just the headline, I don’t usually read that paper) on Chilcot that army could be charged with war crimes but Blair won’t be, trouble brews…

Thanks, Michelle. It’s going to be a serious miscarriage of justice if Blair escapes while the army get charged. From what I’ve read, the pressure for war came from Blair and his coterie. It reminds me about what the author of one book I read about the former DDR said about the prosecutions for human rights abuses when the Berlin Wall came down. They complained about how the squaddies, who shot the dissidents trying to flee to the West were being charged with murder. Meanwhile, Honegger and the others, who were in charge of the whole country and were ultimately responsible for the shootings and other atrocities, escaped scot-free and were on the media circuit, being interviewed on television.
