That anti-communist drive had a great impact on British foreign and economic policy, in the book by Will Podmore ‘British Foreign Policy Since 1870’ on page 81 it mentions Montagu Norman (Bank of England Governor 1920-44) lending money secretly to Hitler: “Norman secretly negotiated loans to Hitler (with Cabinet approval) in May, June and October 1934. The British government practically supplied all the foreign exchange the Nazi government used to buy raw materials for its arms industry. The Stock Exchange Gazette of 3 May 1935 wrote: “Who finances Germany?….London.” The Bank of England effectively funded the rearmament… In 1934 and 1938, Anglo-German payments agreements allowed the Nazi government to use sterling receipts to service debts to British banks and to buy raw materials vital to the rearmament programme.”

Why was this done, continuing to page 82 Podmore succinctly states: “On 15 July 1933, the British government signed the Four Power-Pact in Rome with the governments of Germany, Italy and France. This pact in effect guided British policy throughout the decade. It realised Hitler’s key aim of uniting larger powers against the Soviet Union. The British government’s aim was that Hitler should attack the Soviet Union”

I understand the Four-Power Pact to have been originally set up to work for European peace but it was with some terrible bedfellows. Thanks, Michelle. I only read the other day something about this, but this adds much more information.

It’s awful info, in some ways sorry to be sharing it with you, I came across a lot of this stomach churning data a couple of years ago for CAAT.

Have you seen the documentary ‘Banking with Hitler’: https://youtu.be/YauM5dHLn1s

and a powerful film about IBM’s role via punch cards in WW2 atrocities, and IBM Germany inventing the modern racial census “One Mainframe to Rule them All”: https://youtu.be/uXTwS_T-CvM

Interestingly did you see the fuss in the media yesterday about the release of all that secret financial data on Mossack Fonseca? The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists are calling it ‘The Panama Papers’, of which I am a tad sceptical due to specific the targets in their release video (decrying barrel bombs used by Assad in the first 20 seconds without mentioning all the armaments the UK and US have sold to Saudi who ship them on to so-called moderate rebels for their devastating raids on Syria), I digress. Anyway, The Irish Times has an interesting piece on the financial firm Mossad Fonseca which includes this piece of info that is very much in line with your comments above:

“Mossack’s father had been a member of the Waffen-SS, the notorious armed wing of the Nazi Party during World War II, according to U.S. Army intelligence files obtained by ICIJ.

After the war the father offered his services to the U.S. government as an informant, the files show, claiming “he was about to join a clandestine organization, either of former Nazis now turned Communist . . . or of unconverted Nazis cloaking themselves as Communists.” An Army intelligence officer wrote that the offer to spy for the U.S. might simply be “a shrewd attempt to get out of an awkward situation.”

Nevertheless, the old intelligence files indicate that Mossack’s father later ended up in Panama, where he offered to spy, this time for the CIA, on Communist activity in nearby Cuba.” REF: http://www.irishtimes.com/business/financial-services/who-are-mossack-fonseca-1.2593760

And as a FYI have you heard of Mae Brussell? Brussell was apparently one of the most prolific anti-fascist political researchers of the latter half of the 20th Century, I was reminded of her yesterday, but please note I haven’t as yet checked out her authenticity: https://fileandclaw322.wordpress.com/mae-brussell-archive/

Thanks for this, Michelle. I’ve come across something about IBM working for the Nazis before, but I don’t think I’ve seen this documentary. I also don’t know much about the Americans investing in Nazi Germany, beyond the bare fact that they did. The ‘Panama Papers’ have been all over press today, but I haven’t heard about Mossack Fonseca, and the career of Mossack pere. They only thing I read about regarding these papers is that they show just how money was being kept in them to avoid paying to the taxman. Among the various great, good, and not so good is Cameron’s late father.

An FYI GoingUnderground on the Panama Papers talking to “Kristinn Hrafnsson whose organisation, The Icelandic Centre for Investigative Journalism has worked with the Consortium funded by George Soros, the Ford Foundation and the Rockefellers.” Kristinn also connects with WikiLeaks, it’s in the first 12 and a half minutes after a minutes intro: https://youtu.be/3eCvmN53qBU

Good morning Beastie, sent this post link to Dragan Stankovic who a couple of years ago gave me the info about the IBM machines, placed it in his related Ukraine post ‘US support of neo Nazis in Ukraine’: https://plus.google.com/116332978520282633934/posts/TpEV2cpfcsv

And a good morning to you, too!. Thanks for this – it looks grim, but very interesting indeed.
