Meet the 2 Tory MPs who today stopped a bill to protect tenants from revenge evictions

More evidence, as if you needed it, that all the Tories really care about are the landlords, not the tenants. In the case of Chope and Davis, the commenters Doralora and Wildswimmerpete point out that they are the landlords.

Pride's Purge

(not satire – it’s the Tories)

A private members’ bill which would have protected Britain’s 9 million tenants from revenge evictions by callous landlords was stopped by just two Tory MPs today – despite the fact their own party supposedly supported the bill.

Christopher Chope – Tory MP for Christchurch – and Philip Davies – Tory MP for Shipley – both talked for over an hour during the debate in order to make sure the bill ran out of time:

9 million renters. One missed opportunity.

Let’s hope the thousands of voters who rent in Christchurch and Shipley remember their MPs’ actions at the election in May next year.
