Britain’s starvation crisis won’t bother our new millionaires at all

MIke’s piece comments on the report in yesterday’s Mirror on the glaring iniquity of Britain as one of the world’s wealthiest nations with a rising population of millionaires while a million people are forced to rely on food banks simply to stave off starvation. He points out that this is exactly what constitutes a ‘Third World’ country: a state with a low level of economic development with massive poverty and an extremely wealthy ruling elite. All of this is absolutely true. There’s also an excellent quote from comedian Eddie Izzard on how the Tories have done all this and destroyed the welfare state. Britain is now the Tories and Tory Democrats ‘banana republic’.

So the United Kingdom now houses more millionaires than ever before – but at the huge cost of forcing hundreds of thousands of people to seek help from food banks or starve.

This is David Cameron’s gamble: That enough people will profit from the misery of the huge underclass he has created to vote him back into office in 2015, to continue his attack on anybody who takes home less than £100,000 pay per year.

Are you really that selfish?

Do you think this is any way for a civilised, First-World society to order itself?

  1. Bring back immediately women's state pension at 60 / Against loss age related tax allowance at 65 Says:

When Engels was wandering about England writing up his conditions of the working class, he found the bourgoisie (now called the squeezed middle earning between £26,000 to £40,000 today) completely unconcerned about the conditions of life of the working class. Not just millionaires could not care less about the unemployed, working poor and poor pensioners, who can all be those who are disabled / chronic sick.

It is not the rich who are bringing about starvation to millions of people of all ages.

It is the politicians withdrawing state pension payout at 60 to women and 65 to men and cutting benefits, so leaving nil income for food.

It is politicians who, unlike in America and Europe, who do not fully fund Food Banks and even those not enough, as everywhere else food banks are local government staff in canteens offering every day free cooked meals and hot drinks to mostly the working poor and poor pensioners, not only the minority of those needing food of the homeless and/or unemployed.

See if you lose most or all of your state pension, even at 80 from 2016:
